Meet Pastor Brett Lutz

It is my joy and privilege to serve as pastor of Aberdeen Baptist Church and to minister to the people of Pueblo, Colorado. I hope this gives a better glimpse into my life and calling to serve in vocational ministry, all to and for the glory of God!
My wife, Stephenie, and I are grateful to call Pueblo home as we raise our family here in the Aberdeen neighborhood and seek to faithfully serve Christ alongside this church family.
Stephenie has deep roots at Aberdeen Baptist Church. Years ago, when the church was still known as First Southern Baptist Church of Pueblo, her father was called to serve as Music Pastor. During that season, Stephenie came to saving faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized here among her church family. Because of that history, returning to Pueblo and serving at Aberdeen has been especially meaningful for our family.
I have loved Colorado since I was a child, when my father pastored at a church in Boulder for a number of years. It has since been my desire to live in Colorado and the Lord has graciously brought us back here to live and serve in ministry here. We are excited to grow with the Aberdeen Baptist Church family and to seek the Lord's will in all we do. To Him be the glory, now and forevermore!

My Testimony
Although I was raised in a Christian home and faithfully involved in church ministry growing up, I did not fully surrender my life to Christ until I was sixteen years old. In July of 2007, while attending Student Life Camp in Wheaton, Illinois, the Lord radically changed my life through the power of His Spirit.  God graciously opened my eyes to my sin and my desperate need for a Savior. Through repentance and faith, He showed me that only Jesus Christ could make me righteous before God and that Christ must truly be Lord of my life.
About a year later, God began calling me into ministry. Though I wrestled with that calling at first, the Lord faithfully directed my steps and deepened my love for His Word and the preaching of Scripture. Since then, the Lord has led me to pursue higher education that would better train and equip me for the work He has called me to.

Ministry & Calling
The Lord eventually led me to attend Christian university training in Michigan, where my foundation for preaching and teaching was further shaped by a commitment to God’s Word. Throughout my years in ministry, I have had the opportunity to serve in various churches and ministries as a youth minister, lay teacher, and pastor.
Before coming to Aberdeen Baptist Church, I served as senior pastor of a church in Peyton, Colorado. I have also served in young adult ministry leadership and youth ministry in Michigan.
At Aberdeen, I am passionate about faithfully preaching the Word of God week after week, shepherding the church well, and engaging the Pueblo community with the hope of the Gospel. Our desire is to see people transformed by the restoring love of Jesus Christ through faithful, Christ-centered ministry.

Family Life
I met my wife, Stephenie, in August of 2017, and it quickly became clear that God had brought us together. I proposed later that same year during Thanksgiving, and we were married in July of 2018. The Lord blessed us with a daughter in December of 2023 and now has blessed us with another little one on the way later this year. Stephenie and I have been on a wonderful adventure because of the Lord and we look forward to many more years of chasing after Him and His calling in our life, together.

Ministry Philosophy

Psalm 1:1–6 (ESV)
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night…”
